This year starts our 11th season of operation.We started slowly, determined to do everything right. At times, because of extremely bad weather and new Arkansas Game and Fish regulations, doing things right became difficult. However, looking back, I am proud of what we have achieved.
Our repeat business has caused us to expand every year. We have now reached a point that will let us cut back on farming. This has allowed us to concentrate on the duck business while keeping the farming ties that have helped compensate for the Game and Fish regulations.
We have installed several new pits, added 400 acres of flooded fields and remodeled most old pits with roll tops and swivel seats.
Last year, we added 80 acres of private flooded timber. We also built new lodging at our farm headquarters. It is a grain bin converted to a lodge.
This year we are excited to announce we have acquired a hunting preserve license. We plan to use this only in conjunction with our present operation. With this option, we can guarantee our guests will have the opportunity to shoot. (You are still responsible for accuracy.) The first year, we will offer duck and quail hunting. It will be available only to groups of 6 or more, and subject to availability of birds. Price structure to be set later.
Also new this year at our river location will be boat rentals. Even though the AR Game and Fish Commision has banned waterfowl guided on all WMAs, seven days a week, it is still legal for us to hunt there!
